Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy is a big David Bowie fan.
And Bowie, he announced, is “my spiritual musical hero”. The audience, shocked to be hearing something not about Brent or Baghdad, burst into applause.“I got to meet him once,” said Mr Kennedy, suddenly almost shy. There were some good points to his job, he added, and getting to meet David Bowie was one of them. “He’s certainly liberal,” he added. “I’m not sure he’s Liberal Democrat.”
Apparently Kennedy sang 'Heroes' at a Lib Dem conference.
How cool is that, hmm?

They follow in the footsteps of political pioneers such as Harry Truman, who tickled the ivories for reporters in the 1950s. They follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter who quoted Bob Dylan in his speeches. They follow in the footsteps of Bill Clinton who's phalic fascination with the saxophone endeared him to the hearts of Arsenio fans the world over. So far, I've seen John Kerry and Howard Dean taking to the guitar so that they might prove their relevance to the MTV generation and to the aging baby boomers who thought their garage rock band would someday conquer the world. Every generation throws a hero up the pop charts, indeed.

And no, its no leftist bleat, but interesting harmonies and heartfelt hope... Wanna Go Home!

His name is Kerry Dean, and with those two presidential wannabees, he decided to record as Carridine.
